Library Tours
Walking tours familiarize students with the library facility and its resources and services. These tours typically provide a general orientation; however, librarians are happy to cater their presentations to a group’s particular needs or interests.
During the fall and spring semesters, tours are regularly held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:00 beginning at the Research Services desk.
Classes or groups are also welcome to schedule tours with the Research Services Department by calling (662) 846-4431.
Library Instruction
Library instruction sessions, usually scheduled by a faculty member as part of a regular class period, provide students with an overview of how to find, use, and evaluate information. Librarians work with every instructor to craft these presentations for a particular assignment or purpose. During these sessions, librarians introduce common search strategies and popular library resources that will help meet even the most demanding research needs.
Delta State’s academic community represents our primary audience; however, we welcome visits from non-DSU school groups. Area schools and other local groups have free access to many of the library’s services and are encouraged to take advantage of any of the sessions previously described.
The Library Instruction Room comes equipped with 24 computers, a projector, and an instructor’s station. For classes larger than 24 students, we can either host multiple sessions in person or a single session virtually through Zoom.
To schedule an instruction session or obtain more information about the library’s instructional services, please call (662) 846-4431 or fill out the Library Instruction Request Form below for further assistance.
